Challenge

The project initially started as a collaboration focused on improving the functional side of the platform. However, during the process, I identified a much deeper issue: the website lacked credibility, strategic positioning and premium perception.

The existing communication focused almost entirely on a single hairstyle video rather than the value, expertise and long-term knowledge behind the education itself. The visual presentation relied heavily on amateur-style home photography, which unintentionally reduced the perceived professionalism of the brand and directly affected user trust and sales performance.

Strategy / Design Thinking

Instead of selling “a hairstyle tutorial”, I repositioned the experience into a structured short-course education platform.

The goal was to communicate that users are not purchasing access to a random video, but learning directly from an experienced and recognized hairstylist transferring years of practical expertise.

The redesign uses warm nude and neutral tones combined with forest green accents to create a quiet feeling of trust, softness, luxury and premium quality. Typography and spacing were intentionally designed to feel elegant, calm and reliable rather than overly commercial.

The communication strategy was shifted toward:

  • professionalism
  • experience
  • testimonials
  • educational value
  • authority
  • premium positioning

Emotional Positioning

One of the key strategic goals was changing user perception.

Instead of presenting the platform as:
“watch how to create this hairstyle”

the platform now communicates:
“invest in professional beauty education”.

This repositioning increased the perceived value of the courses, justified the pricing structure and created a much stronger sense of credibility and trust.

The visual direction also moved away from amateur-looking imagery toward a more editorial and luxury-inspired presentation. The goal was for the visuals themselves to communicate professionalism before users even start reading.

UX Strategy

CTA placement was intentionally simplified and focused around clear educational actions:

  • Explore courses
  • View academy
  • Start learning

This reduced confusion and helped users immediately understand that they are entering an education platform rather than a traditional hairstyling service website.

Key Takeaway

This project strengthened my understanding of perceived value, emotional positioning and how branding, communication and UX strategy can completely transform the way users experience a digital product.
