Project Description
I redesigned the Zene za Zene International website as a human-centered digital platform for an organization working across women’s empowerment, education and community development. The project involved restructuring a large amount of existing program and project content while preserving institutional credibility and making the people and stories behind the organization feel much more present.
Key Design/Development Directions
The key tension was between an institutional information platform and an emotional social-impact story. I deliberately moved away from a cold NGO aesthetic and used strong photography, generous spacing and editorial-style sections to create empathy before asking users to process detailed program information. At the same time, emotion could not come at the cost of findability, so clear hierarchy, reusable page patterns and distinct entry points were used to reduce cognitive load. Instead of giving every initiative a completely different structure, I created a shared system with enough flexibility for individual programs to feel distinct. That trade-off made the experience warmer and more human while preserving orientation, scalability and trust across a content-heavy website.
Project Outcome
The redesign created a warmer, more contemporary and easier-to-navigate digital presence that communicates the organization’s mission through both storytelling and clearer content structure.
