Green Guard Android App Development

Project Role and involvement

UX Design, Android Application Development | Team of Two

Tools

Figma, React Native, Firebase, AI-assisted Research and Debugging

Project Description

Green Guard is a child-safety Android application and was my first React Native and mobile application development project. I worked in a team of two, learning a new stack while dealing with real Firebase data, existing application logic, debugging and device-specific behaviour, so adaptability and careful problem solving were as important as feature delivery.

Key Design/Development Directions

: Because the product deals with child safety, the UX is intentionally direct and predictable: important actions and information should not require interpretation when a user may already be concerned. On the development side, unfamiliar problems were broken into smaller testable assumptions, with documentation, targeted research, AI-assisted debugging and device testing used as supporting tools rather than shortcuts. The biggest trade-off was speed versus confidence: learning React Native quickly mattered, but changes involving user data and application state still needed to be validated carefully. Working as a two-person team also meant switching between UX, implementation and debugging responsibilities instead of staying inside one narrow role. That constraint made ownership and resourcefulness a core part of the project.

Project Outcome

The project resulted in a working Android application and built practical experience in mobile development, Firebase, debugging, testing and adapting quickly to a new technology stack.
